  1. Enter the birth date and time. The hour matters: its branch is one of the four numbers the hexagram is built from. If unsure, use the time on the birth certificate.

What the destiny hexagram is, and how to use it

The destiny hexagram is built from the birth date and time, not from the moment of asking. Four numbers go into it: the lunar day, the lunar month, the stem of the birth year and the branch of the birth hour. Their sum divided by eight gives the upper trigram; add the hour branch and divide again for the lower trigram, and by six for the moving line.

The reading covers the path that suits this person — which line of work carries furthest, who around them helps or hinders — and the health direction worth watching, meaning the constitution rather than a diagnosis. When the chart flags nothing, that part is simply left out.

Common questions

What if I do not know the exact birth hour?
The hour branch goes straight into the formula, so a two-hour shift gives a different hexagram. Use the time on the birth certificate if you have it; without it, treat the reading as indicative only.
How is this different from asking about a specific matter?
A question hexagram is cast at the moment of asking and answers that one matter. The destiny hexagram is cast from the birth time and speaks to the life path and physical constitution — it is not for a single question.
Does the reading give the year I will succeed?
No. It deliberately does not derive a personal year of success. The age ranges shown are the general rhythm of the field, not milestones for the individual.
