The game of the Yi with the stock market is in substance nothing but playing with the Wealth line. Playing with money is no joke; one slip and all can be lost, so everything must be handled with the greatest care. All of it will be introduced and laid open in today's piece. The strength of the Wealth line shows the way money is made in this market.

Two kinds of securities

Securities, note, divide into two kinds:

• Cash securities
• Derivatives

With cash securities, that is, the tickers traded on the stock market, only a rising trend can yield a profit at the present time. Simply: say ticker A is now worth x per share; then if one buys ticker A at present, and at point B in the future x rises, one profits and money comes in; x falls, and it is a loss. And cash securities are not counted as rising and falling by the hour, because they can be sold only after 2 working days — for example, buy on Monday and only on Thursday can one sell; there is no buying and selling within the day, that is, t+2

With derivatives, what is shown here is the prediction of a rise or fall in the market; a player can profit either way if they predict the market's trend correctly. For example, with the VN-Index we place a sell order at present: if it falls in the future, we take profit on the quantity bought; if it rises, we lose money. Rising much or little, falling much or little, one loses or gains a matching sum — as simple as that with securities. Derivatives have many markets besides the VNI; in America there is NASDAQ, for instance, and one can sell whenever one wants, even 1 second after entering the order.

Note that the stock market runs only in the 3 frames Si, Wu and Wei each day

Roughly, that is what the stock market covers; so then, where does the Wealth line show itself?

What the Wealth line shows

What the Wealth line shows always follows the principle: what the querent wants. That is, the range, the space, or the scale of time all lie here; it is not simply that Prosperous or Weak tells profit from loss. If one wants a profit of 10 and it rises 9 then falls, the moment it had risen 9 still counts as a loss. So framing the question is extremely important; frame the question about the wrong thing and do not hope to be right.

Before reading, we must understand what we are doing

So with the stock market, before reading, we must understand what we are doing:

• We are one who is already in: then the question turns on the ticker already entered — is it profitable, that is, will it rise, and if it rises, at what point? In this case we read both the Wealth line and the Self line. A Prosperous Wealth line means it will rise, and the point of timing of the Wealth line is the best point to take profit. The Self line shows ourselves through the whole course of this rising and falling: if it is Prosperous and generated by Wealth, then wait at ease for the money to come; if Prosperous and generating Wealth, it is waiting through every second; if controlled by Wealth, this money is perhaps not idle money, so there is always pressure and nagging worry. Likewise infer the other cases. If a moving Wealth line controls the Self line, then though there is profit, one meets a related misfortune oneself. This misfortune need not be directly from money: simply, seeing such a large profit, one is so glad that the blood rises and one dies, or something of the sort. In this case one must prepare in advance, or pull out at once and keep one's life; from there the other cases can be inferred. And here remember that the timing of the Wealth line is the best point to take profit, but one must also have one's own judgement of whether we are counting by day, by month or by year; that is the core. And note, we do not count on the axis of the Hour, because of the market's rules.

In the case of a Resting Wealth line, we take the point of Birth as the point to close; of course counting by Month at the least, because of the principle that Resting waits for Birth, near is weak and far is prosperous

With a Weak or rootless Wealth line, pull out at once and live. But if one has already fallen deep, then one must cast a new hexagram asking when pulling out is most advantageous, that is, with the least loss; and then one need only read the timing of the Wealth line, without weighing its strength. With this new hexagram, even a rootless Wealth line still gives the timing of Wealth

With one already in, we become passive, and that is poor, because the Yi should be used before the choosing; once chosen, it becomes only mending, and one no longer chooses freely

With one not yet in, it is far easier. Just cast a hexagram for each ticker; whichever has a Prosperous Wealth line, put money in, and take the timing to choose the point to take profit — do not worry

So with these two cases, what if Wealth is Prosperous but the Self line controls Wealth? That is nothing other than the share rising, but when the rise comes, we cannot wait for it. For example, having borrowed money to play, by the time it rises one has died in the interest. Or simply, before the point of the rise one has already withdrawn all the money for something more pressing. That is the tragedy: knowing the gain but unable to wait for it

For one who simply looks at the rise and fall, do not read the Self line; read only Wealth and know. Prosperous Wealth rises, Weak falls, and the point of the peak of the rise or fall is the point of timing of Wealth.

Derivatives

That is how it is with cash securities; so what about derivatives?

With derivatives it also divides into kinds as above:

• With one already in, whether the ticker entered profits or loses depends on the Wealth line, and it is not that Prosperous Wealth means a rise: if, say, one entered a sell order, then Prosperous Wealth precisely reports the prediction as right, that is, the market aimed at will fall and one takes profit. Otherwise as above. But with the timing: if the timing for the question falls at the 3 marks Si, Wu, Wei, then that frame is the point to take profit; if outside these 3 frames, then it will be counted by day, month or year
• With one who has not yet entered an order, it divides into two forms. Form 1: analysis has been done beforehand; then the strength of Wealth stands for whether one's prediction is right or wrong — Prosperous is right, Weak is wrong. Timing as above. Form 2: no analysis done; then Prosperous Wealth is a rise, Weak is a fall. Timing as above

Note that these two cases still need the Self line read

• With one who does not play: then the strength of Wealth for each ticker signals the rise and fall with the timing as above, but note, do not read the Self line

Timing

Everything about securities is here; the point of timing for the cases rests on what follows. Note, a still Void is a change of cycle, and Wealth punished likewise:
