Land Vein (Mach Dat)

Land Vein (Mach Dat) — what is it? The Land Vein: every piece of land has a vein, and whether that vein is good or bad is judged by the Self line when the land is one's own.
The land vein is a vein; what shape it has, no one knows. A person has veins, and land has veins too; magnified, it becomes the dragon vein, because a king is not the same as a commoner — yet every vein is still a vein, a large vein and a small vein are both veins, a good vein and a bad vein are both veins, and the land vein does not become a dragon vein merely because people draw distinctions.
Reading whether the vein is good or bad
Every piece of land has a vein, that is the core; whether the vein is good or bad is judged by the Self line if that land is one's own, if that house is one's own, and if it belongs to someone else, then that land is the Parents line.
Whether a vein is good or bad rests on the Self line alone.
A good vein flourishes very fast; there have been places that flourished within a single year and changed their fortunes, because the vein was too good.
Where the vein flourishes toward
As for knowing where the vein flourishes toward, check it with a second hexagram, and read it by the pairs, for example:
- Offspring and Siblings is flourishing toward medicine and the spiritual
- Siblings and Parents is learning
- Parents and the Officer line is career
- Wealth and the Officer line is also career
- Offspring and Wealth is money
Look at this to know: land may be good, but if it does not suit the person it still comes to nothing; there is land that flourishes toward fame, and business there never succeeds, because the land flourishes toward fame (probably so). And so the core of the land-vein reading is to determine whether this land is good before buying it, or, if one is already living there, whether it is as one wishes.
If it is not as one wishes, one can sell it, or rent it out; there is plenty of land left, not to mention plenty of houses. An apartment block may be built on one plot of land, yet some places in it flourish and some do not, and land is the same: the same area, but the vein runs through here, and over there it is another vein. Because people cannot see the metaphysical, check it; know as far as you can, and the rest is only conjecture.
A broken vein
A broken vein is a dangerous phenomenon, decline for the whole family and for the descendants after. Land can flourish very strongly, but when the vein is cut it too goes down bit by bit. It happens when the hexagram asking about the vein has the Target line in the Void, or is a Six Clashes hexagram.
Land with a broken vein is then welded; once welded, good land flourishes and bad land becomes less bad, because the badness of a bad vein is not the badness of a cut vein. The badness of a bad vein is far weaker than the badness of a cut vein.
Curing the vein
The vein cannot be cured, that is, bad land cannot be made good; that is the core.
Welding the vein
Welding the vein means making a vein that has been cut continuous again.
Take a good vein that is in decline, that is, a vein that has been cut: after welding it flourishes fast.
A good vein flourishes fast, but when will it break again? Since a person's strength has its limits, it is certain only within five years for a house; for a grave this figure does not seem to apply.
Note that the land vein is entirely different from land with a spiritual problem; land with a spiritual problem has been set out in another article.
Two hexagrams are needed: the first for the land vein, the second for where it flourishes toward if the land is good.
